7th North East Festival concludes in Delhi

New Delhi [India] Nov 11 : The 7th edition of the North East Festival concluded at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) lawns in the national capital on Monday.
The festival which is an annual kaleidoscope of the northeast culture, fashion, food, art, and music is organized every year to showcase and create awareness about northeast people in the country.
Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports graced the occasion during the inaugural ceremony.
Shyamkanu Mahanta, organizer of the event said, "In the seventh edition, we are trying to focus on the diversity of North East. During the festival, we have displayed several beautiful pictures of all the tribes through which we want to highlight their presence and essence which is getting extinct."
The event marked special performance by the Pengpelep, The Wishes, Bipul Chettri among others. The gripping festival also witnessed colorful cultural dance performances, ethnic fashion shows, an exhibition of art and photography, and rock music battles which just made it a must-visit for all the Delhites.
Calling this festival a place to connect with the people of North East, Suni W, one of the visitors at the festival said, "This festival is helpful in connecting the rest of the northeast region with other states of the country. Moreover, it promotes the culture of one state."
The concluding day of the festival saw performances from top music icons like Papon Mahanta, Zubeen Garg, Void, Island warrior, Trance Effect.
A fashion show organized showcasing some ethnic collections by 20 top-notch designers, including Elizabeth Marbaniang, Yura Mary remained one of the major highlights of the event.
The festival was held from November 8th to 10th November.
