New Delhi [India], March 13 : A war of words erupted between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday in Delhi over the promise of free LPG cylinders.
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj slammed Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva, saying he's not a minister or chief minister, and demanded to know what administrative problems prevented the government from fulfilling its promise of free LPG cylinders to Hindus in Delhi on Holi.
"Firstly, Virendraa Sachdeva is not the Chief Minister or a Minister. The (Delhi) government should answer this. What administrative problem did they face that they couldn't fulfil the promise of free cylinders on Holi made to the Hindus of Delhi? They have betrayed the Hindus of Delhi," Bharadwaj said.
Earlier today, amid AAP protests over the free LPG cylinder promise, BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva assured that the party will fulfil all promises in its Sankalp Patra.
Sachdeva accused AAP of doing politics of lies, arrogance, and confrontation. He claimed that AAP made false promises and that the BJP will fulfill all its promises, including providing free LPG cylinders, once budgetary rules are followed.
Speaking to ANI, Sachdeva said, "Atishi and AAP do the politics of lies, arrogance and confrontation. They always made false promises. Earlier, they used to protest over our promise of providing Rs 2500 to women. Now, they are worrying about cylinders. I want to tell them that the BJP will fulfil all the promises that it has made in Sankalp Patra. It just needs some budgetary rules to follow. The people have rejected them, and soon AAP will face worse conditions than Congress."
The controversy surrounds the BJP's promise to provide free LPG cylinders to women on Holi and Diwali, which was part of their manifesto for the Delhi Assembly election. AAP leaders, including Atishi, have been protesting against the BJP, calling them a "jumla" party for failing to deliver on their promises.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders held a protest at ITO today and put up a banner over the BJP's free LPG cylinder promise.
Speaking to ANI, AAP leader Kuldeep Kumar criticized the BJP, calling it a 'jumla' party for failing to deliver on promises of free cylinders and Rs 2500 to Delhi residents.
"Modi ji had given a guarantee to the people of Delhi, JP Nadda ji, BJP had given a guarantee that women would receive free cylinders by Holi. Today is Choti Holi. Holi has arrived, but the cylinders have not. The people of Delhi are waiting for the free cylinders. In the end, Modi ji's guarantee has turned out to be a 'jumla.' First, they lied to the women, then they lied about the cylinders. BJP is a 'jumla' party. The people of Delhi got neither free cylinders nor Rs 2500. Our protest will continue until the people of Delhi get free cylinders," he said.
