New Delhi [India], November 8 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Friday criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and the INDI alliance, accusing them of undermining national unity.
He alleged that Kejriwal prioritises personal luxury over addressing the housing needs of the poor.
In a press conference held in the national capital, Bhatia remarked, "Whether it is Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, or leaders of the INDI alliance, they are working to disrupt the country's unity and show disrespect to the Constitution. These dishonest individuals, some out on bail, continue to deceive the people of Delhi. It is important to address their actions, as these transgressions bring shame to AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. While arrangements have been made to provide housing of twelve, eighteen, and twenty-five yards for the underprivileged and those living in slum colonies, Kejriwal enjoys the luxury of a bungalow."
Meanwhile, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla also criticised the AAP for the pollution in the Yamuna River, citing the toxic foam on the water as a serious health risk for devotees during Chhath Puja. He attributed the river's contamination to AAP's policies.
Speaking to ANI at the Yamuna ghat in Kalindi Kunj, Poonawalla said, "Many people have gathered here to pray to the Sun god, yet the situation is so severe that the Delhi High Court has advised against visiting the ghats due to health risks. Even Congress leaders have pointed out the deteriorating state of the Yamuna."
"A thick layer of toxic foam now floats on the river's surface, endangering the health of women from Purvanchal who have come to offer prayers. Despite Rs 7,000 crore being spent, the river's condition has only worsened. Devotees are here, but Arvind Kejriwal is nowhere to be seen. AAP's political negligence is responsible for this pollution," Poonawalla stated.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari also condemned the Delhi government for the worsening air quality in the national capital. "Delhi's pollution has reached such dangerous levels that discussing it feels like a mere formality. AAP has left no stone unturned in turning Delhi into a gas chamber. Arvind Kejriwal has adopted a new style of governance where he holds power but shifts blame for every failure," Tiwari remarked.
"We in the BJP continue to urge Delhi residents: elections are around the corner. It's time to remove those endangering your lives and give BJP's double-engine government a chance. We will transform Delhi into a world-class capital," he added.
