"Confident of BJP victory in upcoming local body elections": Uttarakhand CM Dhami

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], January 21 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated on Tuesday that, just as the people of the state elected a double-engine government, they will once again support the triple-engine BJP in the upcoming local body elections.
Speaking to the media, Dhami highlighted the significant support the BJP received in the state and thanked the people for electing a double-engine government.
"The way people of Uttarakhand elected the double-engine government, they'll also elect the BJP in local elections. I thank all the people as they have always supported the BJP. The public in Delhi will also support our party in large numbers and I believe that BJP will be elected to form a double-engine government in the national capital," said CM Dhami.
Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the state will soon implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), fulfilling a key promise made to the people of Uttarakhand.
Speaking about the UCC in Haridwar today, CM Dhami stated, "Under the leadership of PM Modi, the UCC was a promise we made to the people of Uttarakhand. The state cabinet has approved the act, and it will be implemented shortly."
CM Dhami spoke to ANI over the Uttarakhand municipal general elections and said, "Our govt will work like triple engine, so I appeal to the voters of Haridwar, for a much more fast-paced development of 'Devbhoomi', make all BJP candidates win."
"The Congress doesn't have any topic, they do politics of lies and try to hinder the development works we do. In Uttarakhand, since the Municipal elections are about to take place, they go to slum areas and say that we will remove slums but nothing of that sort is going to happen. We are making Ganga corridor but nobody will be homeless or lose their land," said CM Dhami.
The State Election Commission of Uttarakhand announced the dates for the Municipal Local Body General Elections for the year 2024-25. These elections will be held for 11 Municipal Corporations, 43 Municipal Councils, and 46 Nagar Panchayats across the state.
The date of receipt of nomination papers has been set from 27 December to 30 December. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on January 2.The Commission has set the voting date for January 23, 2025, with the counting of votes scheduled for January 25, 2025.
Earlier, Chief Minister Dhami on Monday appealed to the people to vote in favour of BJP's Dehradun Municipal Corporation mayor candidate Saurabh Thapliyal and all BJP councillor candidates in the upcoming civic polls.
Addressing a gathering at an OBC conference in Dehradun, Dhami highlighted the BJP government's commitment to the upliftment of the exploited, deprived, and backward classes. He emphasised that the benefits of various public welfare schemes launched by the BJP government are reaching every section of society.
Dhami also expressed the BJP's commitment towards the OBC society, stating that concrete work has been done for the OBC society for the first time after independence. He added that the BJP has taken a bold decision by implementing OBC reservation in 30 municipal bodies and mayor posts in the civic elections.
The Chief Minister described the government's achievements, including implementing a strict anti-conversion law, taking action against land jihad, and freeing over 5,500 acres of land from encroachment. He also mentioned that Uttarakhand is soon going to become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
Accusing the Congress of doing politics of lies, confusion, and appeasement, Dhami appealed to the people to support the BJP.
The Chief Minister has been actively campaigning for the BJP in the upcoming municipal corporation elections.
