New Delhi [India], February 4 : Congress whip in Lok Sabha, Manickam Tagore said that while party leader Rahul Gandhi's speech was a "visionary statement," the Prime Minister's address in Parliament on Tuesday mainly focused on the problems in the past.
"We thought that after LoP Rahul Gandhi's visionary statement about India's future growth and making India a production centre...PM was speaking about the past...his problem is he lives in past and doesn't speak about the future. LoP spoke about the future and PM spoke about the past," Manickam Tagore said.
The Congress MP also said that they will look to authenticate the claims of saving money and benefiting the people with various schemes.
"Where the data comes we don't know. If there is any data, if any agency has given bills, one should not say anab-shanab ka baat (such unsubstantiated things), we will ask for authenticating it in the Parliament," he told ANI.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal also mentioned that the PM Narendra Modi did not address any of the issues raised by Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav in their speeches on February 3.
"He did not speak on a single question raised by Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders, Akhilesh Yadav also spoke very well, he didn't answer anything on that. This is the same repetition of the PM's speech that we have been hearing for so many years...nothing new," Venugopal said.
Talking about the PM criticising Sonia Gandhi's remark on the President, Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said "The allegation on Sonia Gandhi is false, Priyanka Gandhi also clarified it, she respects the President and she did not say anything like that, lies are being spread and unfortunately, PM is repeating the same...unreasonably cursing Gandhi family all the time...abusing them throughout the day, is this even a speech?"
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi said that the government has taken care of the youth and ensured that the relevant people get benefits of government schemes.
"The government got Rs 2,300 crore by selling the scrap under the Swachh Bharat Mission. We have used the money to build the nation. When people on the ground work together for people, then change is definite. We didn't give false slogans, we gave real development... Youth of the country are making India proud. We developed an ecosystem to bring out the best of our youth. Country will see the results of our far- sighted policies," the PM said.
