Shanghai [China], March 23 : The Indian Mission in China shared updates on Sunday over several varied areas where it is working for the welfare of the Indian community in China.
A post on X highlighted the diverse initiatives in which the mission is actively engaged.
The Mission shared that it is gearing up for the celebration of the festival of Gudi Padwa with the Marathi community in full swing with fervour ahead of the festivities.

Marking the beginning of the traditional Hindu New Year, Gudi Padwa is primarily celebrated by the people of Maharashtra and Goa. The auspicious festival derives its name from two words: 'gudi,' which is the flag of Lord Brahma, and 'padwa,' which signifies the first day of the moon's phase.
The occasion signals the onset of the warmer days and the spring season.
The festival is observed with colourful floor decorations, a special Gudi flag garlanded with flowers, mango and neem leaves, and topped with upturned silver or copper vessels, street processions, dancing and festive foods like shrikhand puri.
Gudi Padwa coincides with the first day of the Chaitra Navratri and festivals like Sajibu Cheiraoba, Navreh, Cheti Chand and Ugadi that are celebrated in different parts of the country.
The Consulate General also mentioned emergency consular relief provided to Indian citizen H Ansari, which allowed him to return to his family during the festive season.

The Mission also shared updates about Consul General Pratik Mathur's visit to trade hub YIWU in Eastern China to meet and engage with the Indian community alongside improving consular service access.
The Consulate wrote on X, "Building a New India! Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas Sabkaa Vishwaas. Yet another busy weekend with advance Gudi Padwaa celebrations with the dynamic Maharashtrian community in #Shanghai; providing emergency consular relief to Indian citizen Shri H. Ansari enabling him to return to his loved ones during the festive season; and CG @PratikMathur1 's visit to the global trade hub of YIWU in eastern China to meet and engage with the bustling Indian community and to further improve consular services.
