Pauri Garhwal (Uttarakhand) [India], February 8 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday slammed the opposition after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured major victories in the Delhi Assembly elections and Milkipur Assembly bypolls, saying that the people's mandate has "put a full stop a full stop to the politics of lies and loot."
Congratulating BJP member on their victories in Delhi and Milkipur, CM Yogi attributed the party's success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the development work carried out under his leadership.
"The results of Delhi Assembly Elections and Milkipur by-elections have put a full stop to the politics of lies and loot. This is the victory of the development works done under the leadership of PM Modi for the last 11 years. I want to congratulate all the candidates who have been victorious in Delhi. I congratulate PM Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, Union HM Amit Shah for bringing back BJP to power after a gap of 2.5 decades," Yogi said.
Yogi assured that Delhi would now "move on the path of development."
"The people of Delhi will get the benefits of public welfare schemes which was not possible because of AAP which acted as a barrier for the last 11 years," he added.
Meanwhile, BJP is set to form the next government in the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT-Delhi) after 27 years, having crossed the majority mark of 36 seats in the 70-member assembly and beating the 10-year rule of Aam Aadmi Party. The last time a BJP-led government was in Delhi was between 1993-1998.
According to the latest update from the Election Commission of India (ECI), BJP is ahead on 48 seats, having won 37 and leading on 11. While, AAP is ahead on 22, having won 17 and leading on five seats. Congress has failed to even open its account in the Delhi elections for the third straight time.
Further speaking about Milkipur Assembly bypolls in which BJP's Chandrabhanu Paswan registered a major victory by defeating SP's Ajit Prasad by 61710 votes, Yogi said, "The results of Milkipur by-elections will put a full stop to the politics of 'pariwarwad' and lies...The people have made it clear that no matter how much propaganda is done by the Samajwadi Party, public is going to punish them."
Meanwhile, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav accused BJP of "misusing" electoral machinery to win the elections.
"BJP cannot face the growing power of PDA on the basis of votes, that is why it tries to win by misusing the electoral machinery. The level of manipulation of officials required to carry out such electoral fraud may be possible in one assembly constituency, but this 'four hundred BC' will not work in 403 assemblies. BJP members also know this, that is why BJP members postponed the by-election of Milkipur. PDA means 90% of the people have seen this fraud with their own eyes," Yadav wrote on X.
