New Delhi [India], January 29 : Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government ahead of the Assembly elections, and called it a "government of liars."
Bajwa questioned former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's credibility, citing Anna Hazare's "lack of trust" in him. He further accused Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann of holding a "double PhD in lying."
Speaking to ANI, Bajwa said, "This (AAP) is a government of liars...If his guru (Anna Hazare) has no faith in him, then why would the people of Delhi believe him?...Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann have a double PhD in lying."
Similarly, Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi came out heavily against AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections and accused him as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making "false promises.".
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in the Ghonda Assembly constituency, taking aim at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) while exuding confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) victory.
He stated that AAP's rule would end on February 5, saying, "Whole Delhi is saying, on February 5, AAP-da jayegi, Bhaajpa (BJP) aayegi."
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with the counting of votes set for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting for 70 assembly seats in the national capital.
The Congress, which held power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has faced major setbacks in the last two assembly elections, failing to win any seats.
In contrast, AAP dominated the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, securing 67 and 62 seats, respectively, out of 70, while the BJP won only three and eight seats in these elections.
