Himachal CM, Governor condoles death of former BJP leader Rakesh Chaudhary

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 8 : Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed their condolences on Tuesday over the demise of former BJP leader Rakesh Chaudhary, who passed away at Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College at Tanda.
Governor Shukla paid a tribute to Rakesh Chaudhary in a statement and recognised him as an "industrious and dedicated leader."
"Chaudhary's efforts towards the progress and upliftment of the Kangra region will be remembered with great respect and honor. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for peace for the departed soul, as well as strength and courage for the family to bear this irreparable loss," read a statement by the Governor.
CM Shukhvinder Singh Sukhu recognised the public service of the former BJP leader, he said, "I laud the significant contributions of shri Chaudhary to public service and the development of the region. I convey deepest condolences to the family and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul."
Rakesh Chaudhary had contested the 2022 Dharamshala assembly polls on a BJP ticket. In the 2024 assembly bypolls in June 1, he had contested as an independent.
Rakesh Chaudhary died in the Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College after allegedly consuming poison.
