Hyderabad Police Crime Branch apprehends 18 accused in 10 different cases

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 6 : In a major operation conducted by the Crime Branch of Hyderabad Police, the authorities have apprehended 18 individuals in separate cases, according to a press release issued by Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City.
All accused have been arrested in connection with 10 different cases. Among all arrested, three of them have been identified as key masterminds.
The Hyderabad City Cyber Crimes unit conducted a special operation with six teams across various states, including Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
"The Hyderabad City Cyber Crimes unit has successfully conducted a special operation with six teams across various states, including Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, resulting in the arrest of (18) accused persons, including 3 key masterminds. This operation led to the detection of 10 major cases by the Cybercrime Police Station," read an official press release.
The accused have been arrested in 6 cases of Investment Fraud and each case of Digital Fraud, Sextortion Fraud, OTP Fraud and Insurance Fraud.
According to the press release, the arrested individuals are wanted in a total of 319 cases across India, including 45 cases from Telangana.
Additionally, an amount of more than Rs 1.61 crores has been frozen in the bank accounts of the accused.
Apart from that, the Crime Branch have also seized cash of Rs 5 lakhs, 26 mobile phones, 16 ATM cards, 11 chequebooks, 10 sim cards, seven passbooks, two laptops and high-configuration desktops and one hard disk and rubber stamp.
Earlier on October 2, the Commissioner's Task Force (CTF) of the South West Zone of Hyderabad Police in Telangana claimed to have nabbed four interstate drug peddlers in separate operations and seized contraband worth Rs 30 lakh.
At Habeeb Nagar Police Station, officials arrested Syed Abdullah (32), a resident of Mallepally, Hyderabad, who is involved in the artificial jewellery business, Anas Ahmed Shaikh (24), a senior associate at a BPO from Govandi, Mumbai; and Irfan Raju Shaikh (20), a hotel management student from Dharave, Maharashtra.
The police also seized 144.72 grams of OG weed Ganja and four mobile phones. The seized narcotics are valued at Rs 8 lakh, while the mobile phones are worth Rs 2 lakh, bringing the total to Rs 10 lakh.
