"I thank PM Narendra Modi...": BJP's Tarvinder Marwah after defeating Sisodia

New Delhi [India], February 8 : After defeating AAP's heavyweight Manish Sisodia from the Jangpura assembly constituency, BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda and Delhi BJP chief Virendraa Sachdeva for allowing him to contest against the former Delhi deputy chief minister.
Further sharing anecdotes of the election campaigns, he said that Sisodia has admitted Marwah as a "strong candidate."
"I thank PM Narendra Modi, Virendraa Sachdeva, and JP Nadda for considering me worthy enough to contest the election against Manish Sisodia... Manish Sisodia admitted to me that he needed Atishi and Arvind Kejriwal to campaign for him because he considered me a strong opponent..."
Sisodia, a three-time MLA from east Delhi's Patparganj, had switched to Jangpura for this election.
Speaking to the media, Sisodia asserted that the people have supported him really well and affirmed hope that BJP's candidate will work for the constituency. "Party workers fought well; we all did hard work. People have supported us as well. But, I lost by 600 votes. I congratulate the candidate who won. I hope he will work for the constituency," he said.
Notably' APP's national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal also lost the New Delhi assembly seat to BJP's Parvesh Verma by a margin of 4089 votes, the Election Commission announced on Saturday.
The BJP is poised to form the government in the national capital after 27 years. According to the latest update from the Election Commission of India (ECI), BJP won 48 seats. While AAP has won 22 seats. Congress has failed to even open its account in the Delhi elections for the third straight time in a row.
