New Delhi [India], November 5 : Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday expressed concern over Bangladeshi infiltrators and said that they have been entering the state and are rapidly becoming a danger to the state of Jharkhand. He slammed the JMM-Congress govt in Jharkhand saying that they use infiltrators as their vote bank.
"Under the protection of JMM-Congress govt in Jharkhand, Bangladeshi infiltrators are entering the state. They are not only coming here but are also becoming a danger to the state. This JMM-Congress govt makes Aadhar cards and Ration cards and adds them to the voting list," said Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
He further added that the population of Santhal tribals has reduced to 28 per cent from 44 per cent in Jharkhand. Chouhan promised that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has resolved to root out the infiltrators.
"In some cases, they marry our tribal daughters and buy land in their name. These infiltrators are becoming a danger for our tribal daughters and Jharkhand. In Santhal, the population of tribals has reduced to 28% from 44%. This danger arose due to the JMM-Congress-RJD govt. It is BJP's resolve to root out these infiltrators..." he added.
Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that steps will be taken to stop infiltration if a BJP-led government is formed in Jharkhand and laws will framed to return usurped land to tribal women.
Addressing an election rally in Chaibasa, PM Modi also emphasised the party's 'roti, beti aur maati' slogan, saying people want BJP-led NDA to come to power in the assembly polls.
PM stated that the JMM-Congress-RJD have endangered the identity of Jharkhand. Infiltrators are their biggest vote bank... Infiltrators are targeting tribal daughters through lies, fraud, and deceit, they are marrying and snatching tribals' land. They are snatching your - daughter, bread, and land. I assure you that as soon as the BJP government is formed in Jharkhand, every step will be taken to stop infiltration.
Notably, elections for the 81-seat assembly in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23.
