New Delhi [India], November 1 : Delhi Police have detained a juvenile in connection with a double murder case in Shahdara area, officials said on Friday.
The 17-year-old accused has turned out to be the main conspirator in the case.
According to officials, the minor, a distant relative of the deceased, hatched the conspiracy to kill a 40-year-old Aakash Sharma due to an old enmity over a debt of Rs 70,000.
The incident occurred on the evening of Diwali when two persons on a motorcycle attacked victim, Aakash Sharma, leading to deaths of both Aakash and his nephew Rishabh.
DCP Prashant Gautam said that the accused had a dispute with Aakash Sharma, who had promised to lend him Rs 70,000 but later refused. In retaliation, the minor contacted friends and hired a shooter to kill Aakash.
The DCP said that the accused minor hatched the conspiracy in 15 to 17 days after surveilling.
"The accused confessed that he intended only to kill Aakash, but Rishabh was killed after he attempted to catch the shooter, who fired one round at him, resulting in his death," he said, adding that Aakash's son, Krish Sharma, was also injured in the attack.
Yesterday evening, the Police Control Room (PCR) received a call about a firing incident in Bihari Colony, Shahdara. The call was directed to the Farsh Bazar Police Station.
Upon arrival, police found that three injured individuals had already been rushed to the hospital. Aakash Sharma, a resident of Bihari colony in Shahdara (aged 40 years) was declared dead at 8:15 PM upon arrival at the hospital, while his son Krish was also admitted, and Rishabh succumbed to his injuries, DCP Gautam said.
Police recorded the statement of eyewitness Yash Sharma, who revealed that the minor accused is a distant relative of the victims.
According to Yash's statement, he, along with both the victims, was celebrating Diwali outside their house when the accused minor arrived on a scooty with another person who was wearing a facemask. The accused minor instructed the other person to kill Aakash, and shots were fired at all three of them," DCP Gautam added.
A case has been registered against the accused under sections 103, 109, and 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with other relevant sections at the Farsh Bazar Police Station, and a hunt to nab the other accused was on.
The police were further looking into the case.
