New Delhi [India], January 22 : Devender Yadav, Delhi Congress President and candidate from the Badli assembly constituency has responded to allegations made by BJP's New Delhi candidate Parvesh Verma, accusing the opposition of misusing government machinery during the Delhi Assembly elections.
Yadav emphasized that no political party misuses government resources as much as the BJP does. However, he also raised concerns about the AAP's similar behaviour in the elections.
Speaking to media, Yadav stated, "Nobody misuses the government machinery as much BJP. But, it is concerning how AAP is also participating in the Delhi elections in a similar manner... The Election Commission should take cognizance of this."
In a separate comment regarding Congress leader Ajay Maken's earlier remarks, Yadav did not hold back in his criticism of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Referring to Kejriwal's leadership, Yadav said, "Arvind Kejriwal presents himself as a completely fake person, who behaves opposite to what he says."
Earlier, BJP candidate from the New Delhi assembly constituency, Parvesh Verma, said he had complained to the Election Commission that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet colleagues distributed cash and alcohol to voters in the constituency to influence them in the upcoming Delhi Assembly election.
He said, "I have filed a complaint to the Election Commission and also filed a written complaint to the Delhi Police, that in last one week, thousands of cars of Punjab are roaming around in the New Delhi assembly constituency. Punjab CM, ministers, their MLAs and their party workers are roaming in their private cars that have 'Government of Punjab' stickers pasted on them. They are distributing alcohol, CCTVs and money here."
Speaking to ANI he said the AAP leaders were making false allegations against him for fear of loss in the New Delhi constituency where Kejriwal is AAP's candidate.
"They know that they are losing the elections hence they are making false statements against me. I have filed a Rs.100 crore defamation case against Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann. I will use the money for the people of New Delhi assembly," he said.
