Punjab: BSF recover Pakistani drone, packet of heroin in separate operations

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], July 8 : Border Security Forces recovered a Pakistani drone and a packet of heroin in two separate search operations in Punjab, officials said on Monday.

In a post on social media platform X, the BSF Punjab Frontier said, "In two separate search operations, a Pakistani drone and a packet of heroin were recovered. The first recovery of the Pakistani drone took place in the village Wan in the Tarn Taran district, and the second recovery of 250 grams of heroin took place in the village Rorawala in the Amritsar district."
The recovered drone has been identified as a China-made DJI Mavic 3 classic, the BSF said.
BSF said in a press release earlier that it forces recovered a narcotic substance suspected to be heroin from a farming field in Gurdaspur on Saturday morning.
BSF Punjab Frontier had said, "On July 6, 2024, based on information shared by the BSF intelligence wing about the presence of a suspected packet in the border area of Gurdaspur district, BSF troops promptly launched a search operation in the suspected area. During the search operation, at around 10:30 am, the troops successfully recovered one packet weighing 480 grams of suspected heroin in torn condition from a farming field of village Wazirpur Afgana in the Gurdaspur District. The narcotics were found wrapped in yellow adhesive tape."
Earlier in the month, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police jointly recovered around 550 grams of heroin from the Amritsar border area.
"On 04th July 2024, during late evening hours, the BSF intelligence wing shared information regarding presence of narcotics packet in the border area of district Amritsar. Acting promptly, BSF troops, in collaboration with Punjab police conducted an extensive search operation in the suspected area," the BSF had said in a release.
