Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 19 : Ahead of voting for the Uttar Pradesh bypolls, the Samajwadi Party on Tuesday alleged that 'Red cards' are being issued against SP workers adding that law and order in Uttar Pradesh has completely collapsed.
Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav said that "Red cards are being issued against Samajwadi Party workers continuously. A kind of pressure is being put. While people should vote freely, the BJP doesn't want people should get out to vote."
She further alleged that more than 27,000 primary schools are about to be closed in Uttar Pradesh.
"Today, law and order in Uttar Pradesh is zero.... 27,000 primary schools are about to be closed in the state...We (Samajwadi Party) will perform well as we are getting the support of the people. I want to tell the Election Commission that the atmosphere of fear is being created, and Police going to houses of sector incharges should be stopped. We have video evidence of the same," she added.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also said, BJP is deliberately trying to give 'Red Card' to the people. Why the patrolling of security forces is being done at the booths of the Samajwadi Party only?..."
Earlier on Monday, Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav expressed confidence in the party's victory in the Uttar Pradesh by-polls and accused the BJP of desperate tactics, trying to win at any cost by pressuring officials and attempting to manipulate votes.
"Today is the last day of the campaign, but I am sure that the Samajwadi Party is winning with great enthusiasm from Sisamau...I think the BJP wants to win this seat at any cost. They are putting pressure on the officials. They are trying to steal the votes through the officials. People from all sections of society have made up their minds to remove BJP," Dimple Yadav told ANI.
Notably, the Election Commission has postponed by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Punjab to November 20 from November 13.
The nine assembly seats where bypolls are being held include Meerapur, Kundarki, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, and Katehari.
The results will be declared on November 23.
