Shrinate criticised the Uttar Pradesh government for failing to take responsibility and address the needs of the people.
"The incident of 10 newborn babies perishing in a fire at Jhansi hospital in Uttar Pradesh is a shame on humanity. The Congress leader went on to call the deaths of the babies a "murder," stating, "I believe these babies have not just been burnt; they've been killed. The careless state government is responsible for their deaths."

To support the affected families, Prime Minister Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for each deceased child, while Rs50,000 will be given to each injured family.
