Summoning of Manipur assembly session "illegal and unconstitutional", says state Congress chief Keisham Meghachandra

Imphal (Manipur) [India], February 11 : Manipur Congress chief, Keisham Meghachandra Singh on Tuesday said that there would be a "constitutional crisis" in the state after Chief Minister Biren Singh's resignation.
The Congress Chief also called the orders issued by the Governor to declare the summoning of the Assembly session were 'illegal' and 'unconstitutional'.
"The present political development is something very unconstitutional and there might be a Constitutional crisis. The orders issued by the Governor declaring the summoning of the Assembly session as null and void are illegal and unconstitutional. There is no power to issue such an order by the Governor, there is no provision in the constitution of India," Singh told ANI.
Singh also took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that the governors were buying time which was against the people of Manipur and disrespected their mandate.
"BJP in collision with the governors buying time and also with their intention... we can see it is against the people of Manipur. This is disrespecting the mandate of the people of Manipur," Singh further stated.
He also said that Congress demanding justice and time to restore peace in the state.
"For us, we only have 5 MLAs. We are demanding justice and time to restore peace in the states. We don't have any hints regarding the formation. We want an immediate formation of the government so that there is no suspended formation and president rule," he further stated.
Taking to social media X, he wrote in a post that the Congress party opposed any move to impose the President's rule in the state.
"For the people of Manipur, the Congress party opposes any move to impose President's Rule in Manipur now as well as the party also opposes any move to place the Manipur Legislative Assembly under suspended animation now.
Congress party wants a democratically elected popular government," the post read.
