New Delhi [India], December 30 : Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Monday slammed the BJP over their allegations on Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of 'flying abroad when the nation is mourning,' and said that the party should be "ashamed."
The Congress MP also demanded an apology from BJP for doing "politics" in the name of former PM Manmohan Singh.
"BJP only lies...They lie about everything...They did not give space for the building of a memorial for former PM Dr Manmohan Singh...Rahul Gandhi gave a shoulder to the mortal remains of Manmohan Singh...and BJP is accusing him...The party should be ashamed...They should apologize for doing politics in the name of Manmohan Singh," Randhawa told ANI.
Earlier today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack against Congress MP and Rahul Gandhi saying that he has flown abroad to celebrate when the entire nation is mourning former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's demise. He further stated that the Congress party has "abused and insulted" Dr Singh.
"While the country is mourning former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's demise, Rahul Gandhi has flown abroad to bring in the New Year even as the nation observes seven days of mourning. Congress doesn't care for Dr Manmohan Singh. They abused and insulted him during his lifetime They continue to do so now. Yesterday nobody went to collect his ashes. Congress even denied Bharat Ratna to Dr Manmohan Singh as per the latest disclosures. This is their true face," BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla wrote on X.
Notably, Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 due to age-related medical issues in Delhi on December 26. On Saturday, Manmohan Singh was cremated with full state honours at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi's Kashmere Gate in the presence of his family, friends, colleagues, and government dignitaries.
