Tripura: BSF destroys illegal cannabis cultivation spread over 10 hectares of land in a joint operation

Sepahijela (Tripura) [India], November 13 : Border Security Force, in a joint operation with Tripura Police and forest officials, destroyed approximately 65000 matured cannabis plants cultivated in 10 hectares of land spread on Wednesday.
After getting specific information about the illegal cultivation of Ganja plants in the forest area of the village Gilamura under PS Sonamura of Sepahijela district of Tripura, BSF destroyed the cultivation by cutting uprooting and burning, the release stated.
BSF in coordination with sister agencies is making optimum efforts to maintain a drug-free society.
Earlier on November 3, BSF apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals from two different locations in Tripura, a press release said.
Upon receiving specific information at around 2.30 pm on Saturday, the BSF troops of BOP (Border Out Post) Kamla Sagar in the Sepahijela district, apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals while they were trying to enter into Indian territory by negotiating the IBB Fence.
According to the press release, three apprehended Bangladeshi nationals are residents of the Gopalganj district of Bangladesh whereas another listed Bangladeshi was facilitating the illegal crossing of those three Bangladeshi nationals and is a resident of Kasba, Bangladesh.
While in another operation, a Bangladeshi national was apprehended by the BSF troops of BOP Samrupara in the Unakoti district. He was a resident of the Netrakona district of Bangladesh.
