"Whenever Congress wins, there is no discussion on EVMs...": BJP's Pijush Hazarika

Apr 26, 2024

Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 26 : Assam Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pijush Hazarika on Friday questioned the opposition's allegation on electronic voting machines and said that whenever the Congress wins, there is no discussion on EVMs.
Hazarika cast his vote today in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Nagaon.
"Whenever Congress wins, then there is no discussion of EVM and VVPAT. When they won in Himachal Pradesh, did they oppose EVMs? Whenever the opposition loses, they blame the EVMs. All these allegations are baseless. It is just their character. I hope we will win more than 400 seats. PM Narendra Modi will be the PM for the 3rd time. The BJP has done the work in the nation. They have increased the number of airports, highways, medical colleges, etc. That's why people support PM Modi," he said.
Over 77 lakh voters across five parliamentary constituencies in Assam will decide the fate of 61 candidates in the second phase of polls today.
In the second phase of elections, the contest for the Nagaon seat of Assam is considered to be at high stakes.
The equations are such that it cannot be said which way the camel will sit. Senior party leaders had campaigned heavily for the BJP, Congress and AIUDF candidates.
Suresh Bora is in the fray from BJP on the Nagaon seat, while the current MP Pradyut Bordoloi is trying his luck again from Congress. AIUDF has fielded Aminul Islam here.
There are more than 18 lakh voters in the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency, out of which 64 per cent are minority votes.
There has been a record of 83 per cent voting here in the past whose figure is also expected to increase this time.
Before 2019, Nagaon was called the stronghold of BJP. But in 2019, Congress' Pradyut Bordoloi had won.
