21-year-old Lakshika Dagar becomes youngest Sarpanch of Madhya Pradesh

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) June 27 (ANI): A 21-year-old girl, Lakshika Dagar who hails from Ujjain, won the three-tier panchayat elections and became the youngest Sarpanch (head of a village) of Madhya Pradesh. Around 8 women candidates were in the fray for the Sarpanch post of Chintaman Jawasia gram panchayat where Lakshika emerged victorious. She won by 487 votes. Lakshika holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication and is associated with Radio Jockey and Journalism in Ujjain. Speaking about her victory, Lakshika said, “I want the development of my village. I will try to make arrangements for pension schemes for the people who are left out. I also want to solve various problems of the village including drinking water, drainage system, and street lights.”
