BSF Organizes Wullar Half Marathon in Bandipora to promote conservation and tourism

Bandipora (J&K), November 04, (ANI): In a significant initiative aimed at raising awareness for conservation and promoting tourism, the Border Security Force (BSF), Kashmir Frontier, in collaboration with the district administration of Bandipora, organized the Wullar Half Marathon. Held under the theme “Save Wullar, Run with Border Man,” the event highlighted the scenic beauty and environmental importance of Asia's second-largest freshwater lake, Wullar Lake. Runners from across India, including actress Moubani Sorcar and BSF personnel, gathered at the BSF Campus in Bandipora, where the marathon was flagged off by Sh. Ashok Yadav, IPS, Inspector General of BSF Kashmir Frontier. Notable attendees included Brig N R Babu (Retd), Deputy Inspector General of BSF Sector Bandipora, along with other BSF officials, local dignitaries, and media personnel. The marathon saw participation from approximately 700 male and female runners competing in various categories, including the Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km races. The route concluded at Wullar Vantage Park, where prizes were awarded by Mr. Nizamuddin Bhat, MLA Bandipora, to the event's top runners. The event was further enlivened by cultural programs presented by young boys and girls from local schools and sports academies, showcasing the vibrant heritage and diversity of Kashmir. The performances underscored the rich cultural talent present in the region.
