Cabinet approves extension of PM-KISAN scheme to all farmers: Narendra Singh Tomar

New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): While speaking in first Union Ministers’ press conference agriculture and farmer welfare minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced extension of Pradhan Mantri-Kisan yojana to all farmers. The move is likely to benefit nearly 14.5 crore farmers.Narendra Singh Tomar said, “Union Cabinet has approved a new Central Sector Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Pension Yojana. It's a voluntary and contributory pension scheme for small and marginal farmers across the country. Central Govt will contribute to the pension fund in equal amount as contributed by the farmer.” Government will reach 50 million farmers in the first phase. The farmers of the age group of 18 to 40 years will be able to join this scheme. After completing 60 years, he will receive a monthly pension of Rs. 3,000. In the case of Kissan’s death, his wife will get 50% amount of his pension. 10 thousand crore rupees will be spent on this Yojana.PM-Kisan Yojana was announced in the 2019-’20 interim Budget on February 1. Under this scheme, households with agricultural landholdings smaller than two hectares or five acres are eligible to receive Rs 6,000 annually as direct benefit transfers from the Centre.
