Srinagar (J&K) January 22 (ANI): The Young Dramatist's Society recently organized a poetic competition, Mushaira, at the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) to promote the Urdu language in the valley. The event aimed to revive the importance of Urdu literature, which has been a significant part of the region's cultural heritage. Urdu, one of the official languages of Jammu and Kashmir, has a rich history and was widely spoken in Central Asia, including India. However, with the advent of modernization and digital platforms, the language has seen a decline in popularity. Despite this, Urdu lovers in the Kashmir valley are making efforts to promote the language. The Mushaira event was a testament to this, with a large number of prominent Urdu poets and young enthusiasts participating. The event provided a platform for young poets to showcase their talent and recite their poems. The participants were enthusiastic and demanded that such events be organized at the district level to involve more people, especially youth. In today's era, where western culture is influencing the younger generation, events like Mushaira can play a vital role in maintaining the glory of the Urdu language. By promoting Urdu literature and providing a platform for young poets, such initiatives can help revive the language and ensure its continued relevance. The success of the event highlights the need for more such initiatives to promote the Urdu language and preserve its cultural significance.
