Delhi LG launches community policing initiative ‘We Care’

New Delhi, September 19(ANI): On the occasion of Sewa Diwas, Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena, inaugurated "We Care" - Delhi Police Community policing initiative in a glittering event at Kartvaya Path, India Gate. On this occasion, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and other senior officers were present. The aim of this initiative is to spread awareness amongst the people regarding different schemes and initiatives of Delhi Police to maintain coordination with public and establish police–public interface. Under "We Care" initiative, all the District DCPs will hold different community policing activities in their respective areas on every Saturday and Sunday, for the next three months. They shall also arrange visits of school children, RWA and MWA members to the Police Stations at 30 selected locations and indulge in meaningful interaction with them through quiz sessions and by disseminating useful information through community discussion. During this programme, girl students from various schools of Delhi who have undergone Sashakti Self-Defence Training gave a spectacular Demo of defence techniques for the visual delight of spectators. Speaking on the occasion, the LG underlined the importance of police–public interface to achieve the goals of preventive and humane policing. He expressed the hope that community interaction events which will also include rendition by the Police Band will attract students, RWAs, MWAs, senior citizens and others. During the event, CP Delhi Sanjay Arora thanked the dignitaries and participants for making the event a great success with a promise that Delhi Police will continue to serve the city with renewed commitment.
