Delhi Police arrests African national for cheating Indian woman

New Delhi, August 26(ANI): Delhi police arrested an African national namely Paul Ofori for cheating an Indian woman. The accused is involved in cheating an Indian woman under false pretence and swindling 25,000 rupees from her. Police received a complaint from a lady that she had met with a person on Instagram. Over a period of time, they became friends and started chatting on a social media platform. During one of their conversations, the person told her that he is sending some gifts for her. Subsequently, the complainant received a call and the caller introduced herself as a custom officer. The officer informed her that a parcel addressed to her has been received that needs custom clearance. In order to receive the parcel, she was asked to pay 25,000 rupees as custom charges. After transferring the amount, no parcel was delivered to her and further monetary demand for custom clearance was made to her. In view of this, the police registered a case and the investigation was taken up. During the investigation, The police team conducted a raid in Chander Vihar of Nilothi Extension and apprehended the accused person. During interrogation, the police recovered a laptop and mobile phones used in the crime from his possession.
