Earthquake victims remembered at International Buddhist gathering in Namsai

The two-day International Conclave on 'Buddha Dhamma and the Culture of North-East India' in Namsai concluded with heartfelt prayers for the victims of the recent earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Khenpo Ugen Namgyal of Bhutan, Vice President of the International Buddhist Confederation, extended condolences and praised the resilience of the quake-hit communities. Venerables led a chanting session, invoking peace and healing for the departed and the survivors. A special Vipassana meditation session, focused on cultivating wisdom and compassion, was led by Venerables Anand Bhante and Gyalten Samten. Delegates were later welcomed with traditional Tai Khamti dances and music at Chongkham Raj Vihara monastery. Community prayers were held with local villagers. The conclave concluded with a visit to the upcoming 280-ft Buddha statue at Lalpahar – set to be the tallest in the region.
