Female participation in elections increased this year: EC

New Delhi, May 19 (ANI): Women’s rising turnout in elections and their growing political assertiveness was an important swing factor in the recent Lok Sabha Elections. While addressing a press conference, Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said, “Female participation has been much more this time, in 2009 the gap was 9% and in 2014 it came down to 01.04% , at the moment, the figure we have right now, it has come down to about 0.03 to 0.04%”. He further added, “Number of female participation increased in 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the gap has reduced between male and female”.
