Increasing numbers of individuals with lower education die from liver cancer, reveals study

New Delhi, Apr 09 (ANI): Researchers have established a link between lower education and cancer mortality. The study revealed that rising rates of liver cancer deaths in the United States have largely been confined to individuals who have received less education, especially among men. The research published in the journal of CANCER emphasised the need for enhanced efforts to address the growing burden of liver cancer in lower socioeconomic groups. Liver cancer, which in some cases is caused by infection with the hepatitis C virus (HCV), is the most rapidly raising cause of cancer death in the United States. Previous studies have examined varying trends in liver cancer mortality, but there have been no studies examining recent national trends by individual-level socioeconomic status and/or HCV-infection status.
