Khelo India Winter Games 2025 conclude in Gulmarg with grand ceremony

Gulmarg (J&K), March 12 (ANI): The fifth edition of the Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) concluded on a high note at the world-famous ski resort of Gulmarg, Kashmir. The four-day sporting extravaganza, which began on March 9, was inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and concluded today with a grand closing ceremony attended by Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with other top government officials. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 500 athletes representing different states of India, competing in various winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, snow cycling, and other adventure games. The overwhelming response to the event highlights the growing popularity of winter sports in the country. Gulmarg, known for its breathtaking beauty and perfect slopes, has become a hub for winter sports, attracting adventure enthusiasts and tourists from across the world. Recognizing its potential, the government launched the Khelo India Winter Games initiative five years ago to establish Gulmarg as the ‘Winter Capital of Games’ in India. Officials and athletes praised the seamless organization of the event and the enthusiasm of participants. With each passing year, the Khelo India Winter Games continue to strengthen India's winter sports ecosystem and promote Gulmarg as a premier winter sports destination.
