National Sports Day: Hockey match conducted under lights in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 30 (ANI): Government organised first night hockey match on the occasion of National Sports Day in Srinagar. It was organised with an aim to attract more and more youth towards the National Game. The match was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports. Many males and females participated with full of spirit in the match. This was the first experience for hockey players to play under floodlights at synthetic turf. Hockey is a national game and such initiatives will play tremendous role in providing proper platform to the talented youths of the valley. For the last few years, youths in valley were also doing well in sports including Hockey. This type of sports activity is good for health and it also helps youths to keep them away from illegal activities. After attending schools and colleges, youths spend their most of the time in sports activities. The participants lauded the step taken by the authorities and demanded to organise more such types of activities for youth.
