Feb 01, 2020
New Delhi, Feb 01 (ANI): Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal hits back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The opposition leader called it a hallow budget. "Rahul Gandhi didn't seem very enthused with the budget, if he has any issue-based questions I can answer them but if he only wants to use adjectives, I'm seeing 10 times better adjectives that are positive on the television," said Piyush Goyal. The minister also talked about on stock market's response to Budget2020. He said, "There are some specific sectors in the stock market that carry a lot of weightage, for example, we have increased tax on cigarettes, so ITC's stocks have weakened a bit." "Maybe because there isn't yet clarity on exemptions, (stocks of) some banks and insurance companies have weakened. I think the market will become fine after getting through the fine prints of budget and seeing how it's encouraging domestic industry." Minister further added.
