PoK: Protests break out as govt. cracks down on demonstrations against electricity-bill hike

Muzaffarabad, PoK, 09 AUGUST 2022: - A large number of locals took to streets against authorities in Pakistan occupied Kashmir as the government cracked down against those who were protesting against the unjust hike in electricity bills. While they were subject to police high handedness during demonstrations, a large number of them were dragged to jails and were charged with different punishable sections. The demonstrators said they would intensify their protests if the locals who were held illegally were not freed immediately. They also said that they will step up the agitation against the electricity charges that were being collected from them.
