Women perform special prayers, plough land for rain in Kanpur

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 24 (ANI): Several women have performed prayers and ploughed the land for rain in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur today. Women of Gopalpur village in Kanpur performed special prayers for rain. They also sang traditional songs while performing prayers on this occasion. While speaking to ANI, one of the local said, “We are ploughing the land for rain, this custom exists since the time of Raja Janak. It is believed that if we plough the land Lord ‘Indradev’ (God of Rain) will be pleased and it will rain in the area.”
